Per Walt Disney World, the rationale was that all holiday offerings that “draw big crowds will be on hiatus” due to physical distancing. If you’re visiting Walt Disney World during the holiday season, a visit to the Grand Floridian is something we consider a requirement. This year, the Grand Floridian’s gingerbread house returned to its original style with red accents. For the last two years, the gingerbread house was accented with decor representing Disney’s 50th anniversary. In 2017, a 46-inch-wide gingerbread display mirrored the resort itself—complete with a pool and a teepee. After viewing the resort-within-the-resort, guests could treat themselves to seasonal spa treatments, including the Arctic Berry Peel and Sugar Plum Restorative Oxygen Ritual.

The 2023 gingerbread display at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is now officially open. The Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort lobby will be remodeled next year. The project was delayed and then officially pushed to 2024 so as not to interfere with the gingerbread house display. But you'd need a truckload of candy to deck these adorable abodes, for several of LA's gingerbread houses stand at two stories or more. A lift vehicle nearby was likely used to add shingles to the very top of the gingerbread house. Most, if not all, of the house’s gingerbread shingles and siding pieces have been installed.

Three soft, fluffy marshmallows are dipped in white chocolate and decorated with stripes of blue and purple colored white chocolate and accented with 50th Anniversary holiday sprinkles. If you take the time to look closely, you’ll notice fine details in the decorations. For instance, the transom in the photo below features Belle with the Beast in a winter scene. When I arrived at the Grand Floridian, it was evident the staff was preparing for a big event. I don’t know how often you visit the parks and resorts, but Disney weddings have been trendy lately.

He is surveying the lobby, looking for those who are naughty and nice. On this side of the house, which could be considered the side of the house, is a smaller sitting porch. The upper deck has a bay window with multiple trees and a large Santa Claus. If you're still picking dates, we've got everything you need to know about Disney World crowd calendars. Also at Walt Disney World but not a hotel, The American Adventure at EPCOT has a display of gingerbread versions of classic American monuments and EPCOT buildings.

Santa’s head decorates the roof, and a large Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary medallion is featured on the front. This generous brownie tree pop is dipped in dark chocolate. Green-colored white chocolate is at the bottom and “garland” strips of green chocolate drape across the tree with multi-colored sprinkles as holiday decorations.
Additional cut-outs in the shape of hearts reveal hidden ornaments. We also love exploring the little scenes and characters set up throughout the display, like this doorway with a snowman and toy soldier greeter. There are so many holiday traditions that we all love and cherish, and Disney has a unique way of putting its own special twist on those traditions. A display is set up on the first and second floors, offering a preview of the treats.

Here Mickey, Minnie, and Donald are enjoying a day out in the snow. Gingerbread is one of those iconic holiday treats, and Disney World’s popular life-size Gingerbread House is one of those iconic spots during the holidays. We love watching its construction, breathing in the gingerbread-scented air, and of course, buying gingerbread treats from its little store window. Those with a sweet tooth will find plenty of options for treats at this year’s gingerbread display.
Guests will get the full effect of it when they arrive from the front entrance or from the second floor after exiting the monorail. Well, that is until the grand Christmas tree dominates the center of the lobby. Similar to last year’s gingerbread house, we see the continued theme of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary. Before last year, the gingerbread display was always decorated with true Christmas colors like red and green. The gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian is one of the most iconic holiday decorations throughout Disney World. It’s made up of over 1,000 pieces of gingerbread and an 85-pound chocolate Santa.

BREAKING: Walt Disney World Theme Park Phased Reopening Schedule Announced for November 10
Have you seen the gingerbread display in Haunted Mansion Holiday? Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will celebrate the holidays with the return of their gingerbread house display on November 10, 2023. In 2017, the hotel’s culinary team transformed 350 pounds of gingerbread into an 8-foot-tall Victorian house decorated with hundreds of gumdrops, lollipops, and licorice whips. The display also included a train station—and moving locomotive that thrilled young onlookers. The 2022 Grand Floridian gingerbread house construction has begun! Check out photos of this year’s life-sized iridescent gingerbread house on display.
The structure required a whopping 624 pounds of flour, 200 pounds of sugar, 144 pounds of brown sugar, and 144 pounds of molasses—enough to make any dentist’s day. This property’s 2017 display was an impressive 17-foot pirate ship, The S.S. Ginger Amelia. The vessel took a crew of eight pastry chefs more than 350 man-hours (and 600 individual pieces of gingerbread) to create.
It’s impossible not to when you are within 10 feet or so of this giant life-sized chocolate Santa display at the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel. The display has been happening since 2010 and includes a 7-foot tall, 400-pound nutcracker. As we keep going around Crescent Lake, we get to Disney’s BoardWalk Inn where their display is shore to impress from Nov. 17 through Dec. 27.
Every year, the gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort resembles a Victorian-style house and is located in the main lobby of the resort. Guests will be able to purchase gingerbread treats and other sweets from the gingerbread house when it opens in November. Each year, Disney’s Boardwalk Resort creates a breathtaking life-sized gingerbread display that rivals the Grand Floridian gingerbread house in scale and detail. This carousel actually turns, and each year the horses have a new theme that follows a set of Disney characters and films.
There are many other windows, so make the time to stop and take in all of the details and spot all of the characters!! While you’re checking out the window, take a look at this detailed ornament hung in the gables of the house. We can smell that delicious cozy scent all through Disney’s Grand Floridian because the beautiful, iconic gingerbread house is officially complete and open! As we make our way down to the lower level, some of the more intimate details of the gingerbread house come into view. Below, we’ll preview photos and a video of the 2023 Gingerbread House at Disney’s Grand Floridian.
